Since May 2023 we have been of service to the communities of Wimborne, Ferndown, Colehill, Verwood and their adjoining Parishes. It is based at High Mead Farm in Ferndown.
In a nutshell the concept has been devised to help our Members save money and reduce the carbon footprint of our communiy by Borrowing Not Buying tools that we may only use now and again.
As we know, from a DIY perspective, most tools are used only a couple of times in their lifespan, so, by providing a repository where You would never have to buy the tool and store it forever afterwards. Borrowing is better than hiring or buying. However, due to the nature of tool running costs/overheads (as a NFP), investment and renewals, there is now a low-cost Membership fee.
We stock a growing number of tools and appliances available to assist You with your DIY projects and jobs, large and small:
- Building, Painting, Plastering and Decorating
- Electrical

Having been run for 14 months as a totally free “Passion Project”, however, so that we can pay the bills and invest in new and better tools, from October 2024 we are having to move to a sustainable low cost subscription model. What is Your DIY-Library?
The DIY- Library is for the communities of Ferndown, Colehill, Wimborne, Verwood and their adjoining Parishes, is based at High Mead Farm in Ferndown. It has a growing number of tools and miscellaneous items available to assist with your DIY projects and all are free to borrow! Based on an original idea of Adrian Walker’s, including the acquiring of space at High Mead Farm, Terry Howell grabbed the concept by the horns and has taken the Library on as a “Passion Project” with support from Adrian, Darrell Trevor-Lake and a growing band of volunteers.
The DIY-Library is now fully functioning, albeit at limited hours, We are starting to gather momentum and attracting additional volunteers which will increase our opening times.
